Winfred A Nelson

National Development Planning Commission, Ghana

Winfred Nelson has worked for the National Development Planning Commission, Ghana for the last 26 years. His academic qualifications and work experience focus on Environment and Climate Change, Development Planning, Policy Analysis, as well as Project Management and Facilitation. Winfred holds a BA degree in Economics and Geography from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana and an MPhil degree from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK in Environmental Studies. Currently, he is rounding up his PhD work in Development Studies (working on Climate Adaptation and Water interventions) at the Department of Planning, KNUST, Ghana.

Winfred has worked extensively in building the capacity of district and sector staff on mainstreaming climate change and green economy issues into national development planning and budgeting processes. He has unique techniques in engaging high level policy makers and other key stakeholders in national development processes. Winfred has a passion not only about learning but also about imparting knowledge and strengthening the capacity of staff working with him through mentoring and coaching.
